Wrangling big data into real-time, actionable intelligence

Social media, cameras, sensors and more generate huge amounts of data that can overwhelm analysts sifting through it all for meaningful, actionable information to provide to decision-makers. Sandia researchers are working to lessen that burden by developing the science to gather insights from data in nearly real time.

Sandia helps Puerto Rico grid resilience

The Sandia-developed Microgrid Design Toolkit provides what-if analysis of microgrid design choices to provide quantitative insights to decision makers for hybrid energy solutions. Using the MDT tool, utilities and other community stakeholders can identify vulnerabilities in infrastructure particularly susceptible to natural disasters and related consequences.

‘Safety is a State of Mind(fulness)’

Celebrated annually in June, National Safety Month is an important opportunity to raise awareness about safety and health in the workplace. Throughout the month, Sandia Health Benefits and Employee Services and Safety organizations at the Livermore and Albuquerque campuses teamed up to host an array of speakers, activities and events.

Global collaboration to study photovoltaic performance, reliability

An international community of research institutions, led by Sandia, to advance photovoltaic research and expand solar markets formally launched its work on May 14 in Munich, Germany. The organization provides a unique platform for studying photovoltaic performance and reliability in multiple, diverse environments and climates.
