Hiring Process

Thank you for your interest in working at Sandia National Laboratories. Our goal is to make the hiring process as convenient and informative as possible.

Step 1: Search for job opportunities, and receive automatic email notifications

Visit our Careers tool to search for jobs and register for an account. Registering will enable you to create your profile, save jobs that interest you, apply online, and receive updates about new openings.

Automatic email notification about new postings

Save your job search to receive email notifications about new job postings that meet your search criteria:

  1. Visit our Careers tool
  2. Use the filters on the left panel to narrow search results and click "Save Search"
  3. Sign in by entering your user name and password or create a new account by clicking "Register Now"
  4. Enter a name for your search
  5. Check the box "Notify me when new jobs meet my criteria" and enter your email address
  6. Click "Save Search"

Your search is now saved and you will receive notifications of new openings that meet your search criteria. You can also save your job search without choosing to receive email notifications if you do not select the Use as Job Agent checkbox.

Step 2: Apply

Sandia accepts job applications through our Careers tool for active job openings only.

Resumes and cover letters

You will be asked to upload a resume or choose an existing resume from your profile. If you wish to include a cover letter, it must be part of the same file as your resume. You cannot make changes to your resume once it is uploaded; however, you can upload and select a different resume at any time before submitting your application.

Confirmation email

Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email within two hours. If you do not receive this email, log in to the Careers tool, and check the My Career Tools page to make sure you have actually submitted the application, rather than accidentally saving it as a draft.

Step 3: Interview

You will be contacted by phone or email if you are selected for an interview.

We will also ask you to submit the following items:

  • Unofficial academic transcripts for conferred degree(s)
  • Three letters of recommendation or a list of professional references, including contact information

Step 4: Review and accept our job offer

If you are selected for the job, we will contact you by phone and will send you an official offer letter. You will be asked to complete a drug screening and provide information so that we can conduct a background screening.

Step 5: Begin your career at Sandia

Congratulations on your new career at Sandia! You will be invited to participate in a new-employee orientation on your first day. The orientation will include presentations about working at Sandia and the resources and benefits available to you as a new employee.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status and any other protected class under state or federal law.
