NM Legislature marks impact of Sandia Science and Technology Park
The New Mexico Legislature recently recognized the Sandia Science and Technology Park for 20 years of economic impact. The memorials recognized the park for positively contributing to the local and state economies, for being one of the first research parks developed in connection with a national laboratory and for serving as a model for other laboratories and universities.
Sandia, NMSU ink research deal
Sandia signed an MOU with New Mexico State University on April 10 that outlines how the institutions intend to collaborate for the next decade. The agreement seeks to foster research in areas of national security, including water, energy and critical infrastructure.

Middle school teams design cities of the future
Students from 18 rural and urban middle schools took part in the sixth annual New Mexico Future City Competition regional finals at the UNM School of Architecture and Planning. The students vied for the chance to represent New Mexico at the national Future City Competition in Washington, DC, in February.
CSI: Dognapping
More than 500 fourth-graders visited the Sandia/UNM Advanced Materials Laboratory at the University of New Mexico recently to participate in the 15th CSI Dognapping program, organized by LaRico Treadwell with help from Tineca Quintana of Community Involvement and numerous volunteers from Sandia, UNM and Albuquerque Public Schools.
Sandia Labs spending tops $1 billion, economic impact booms in FY18
Sandia spent nearly $1.3 billion in goods and services in fiscal year 2018, with spending on New Mexico companies up by $55 million compared to the previous year, according to the Labs’ latest economic impact report.
Sandia staff engages in cyber wargames with college students
More than 60 colleges and universities competed to defend fictional energy systems from pretended hackers at DOE’s annual CyberForce Competition last month. Sandia served as a host for the first time, and organized in Albuquerque one of seven simultaneous, regional competitions across the country.
Sandia/California donation helps support 9,500 meals in Bay Area
Sandia presented Alameda County Community Food Bank with a $4,000 donation on Dec. 11, 2018, made possible by Sandia’s Family Stability grant funds.
Toy drives in New Mexico
Sandia New Mexico employees contributed thousands of gifts and donations to the Labs’ annual Holiday Gift Drive for children in foster care in Bernalillo County and the annual Toys for Tots campaign sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
