XHVRB Interface Improvements in Multi-Dimensional Explosive Scenarios
Tuttle, Leah W.; Marinis, Ryan T.; Damm, David L.
extended History Variable Reactive Burn (XHVRB) is a reactive flow model that uses shock capturing and includes desensitization effects, offering improved behavior over the work-horse HVRB model in CTH. Previous publications have highlighted the capabilities and shortcomings of XHVRB, in particular noting some non-physical behavior at material interfaces in simulations. This behavior has been mitigated through the addition of some new strategies for shock counting at material interfaces, and improved behavior is demonstrated here in several ID and multi-dimensional scenarios.
