Biography
Karuna is a postdoctoral researcher at the Agile Biofoundry. Her background in metabolic engineering focused on the production of value-added bioproducts. She gained hands-on experience in fermentation and biomass pretreatment during her graduate studies. Her current research builds on this foundation, exploring innovative strategies for advancing bioproduct and biofuel development.

Awards
- Won First place in Postdoc Technical Showcase at Sandia National Laboratories (2023).
- One of the top finalists representing Sandia National Lab in the Bay Area Research SLAM, competing for the regional SLAM title 2023.
- A Grant of 25,300 USD was awarded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) India, under Women Scientist Scheme –A (WOS-A), for 2016 – 2019
- Awarded Sr. M.Winifred Memorial Award for “All-Rounder Proficiency” in graduation
