The SIERRA Solid Mechanics (SM) Module, also known as Adagio, is a Lagrangian, three-dimensional, implicit and explicit code for static and dynamic analysis of solids and structures. Implicit uses a multi-level iterative solver, which enables it to solve problems with large deformations, nonlinear material behavior, and contact. Explicit uses a central difference time integrator to robustly solve time domain problems. Sierra/SM also has a versatile library of continuum and structural elements and an extensive library of material models. Sierra/SM is written for parallel computing environments, and its solvers allow for scalable solutions of very large problems. Sierra/SM can also be coupled to a variety of other Sandia codes for modeling thermal-mechanical, fluid-structure, blast, and other complex physics.
