CSI: Dognapping

More than 500 fourth-graders visited the Sandia/UNM Advanced Materials Laboratory at the University of New Mexico recently to participate in the 15th CSI Dognapping program, organized by LaRico Treadwell with help from Tineca Quintana of Community Involvement and numerous volunteers from Sandia, UNM and Albuquerque Public Schools.

“White Christmas” and a wish for current and future generations

Baby Boomer Pam Hansen-Hellwege reflects on a conversation with millenials and children about the lack of diversity in the 1954 movie White Christmas. Seeing their observations as a hopeful sign for the future, she notes that at least two generations of citizens she interacts with on a regular basis see a whole community of people when they look at the horizon.

Sandia staff engages in cyber wargames with college students

More than 60 colleges and universities competed to defend fictional energy systems from pretended hackers at DOE’s annual CyberForce Competition last month. Sandia served as a host for the first time, and organized in Albuquerque one of seven simultaneous, regional competitions across the country.
