Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) at Kirtland Air Force Base

Military personnel reviewing paperwork

DBIDS is administered exclusively by the Department of Defense (DoD) and is subject to change at any time without advance notice.

Sandia attempts to remain engaged with Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) authorities to alert Members of the Workforce as soon as possible regarding any procedural modifications.

Preliminaries

  • A physical DBIDS pass is required for access to KAFB by persons 18 years of age or older, unless the individual is already in possession of a valid military ID (e.g., active duty, spouse, dependent, retiree) or valid Department of Defense Common Access Card.
  • DOE Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials (aka HSPD-12 badges) or Sandia-issued Local Site Specific Only (LSSO) security badges are, by themselves, not sufficient for access to KAFB.
  • Holders of a valid DOE PIV credential and REAL ID-compliant state driver’s license may enroll themselves (i.e., no sponsor is required) in DBIDS to obtain a physical DBIDS pass.
  • KAFB requires a 100% ID check of all personnel (e.g., all vehicle occupants).
  • Expired or otherwise invalid DBIDS passes will be rejected at KAFB entry points.
