The Badge Office oversees and controls all Sandia National Laboratory (SNL) site visits to maintain security of operations and authorized access to SNL, its buildings and facilities in accordance with security requirements for a national laboratory.

Badges are designed to link a person's identity and control a person's ability to physically access SNL-controlled premises. With the exception of Public Areas, a DOE-approved badge is required to enter all SNL-controlled premises (Non-Public Areas, Property Protection Areas and Limited Areas).

Uncleared Contractor Badge
Uncleared contractors do not hold or require a DOE Security Clerance. Uncleared contractors who require physical access to SNL may receive an uncleared badge from the Badge Office after their SNL Manager completes and submits SF 2730-UBR, Uncleared Contractor Badge Request Form to the Badge Office. Uncleared Badges are site specific and are only authorized at the SNL site it was distributed at.

HSPD-12 Federal Credentials (Badge)
Homeland Security Presidental Directive 12 (HSPD-12) requires federal agencies to issue a common identity credential. The HSPD-12 Federal Credential replaced the standard DOE badge. All SNL Members of the Worksforce granted a DOE Security Clearance are required to obtain an HSPD-12 Federal Credential from the Badge Office. HSPD-12 Federal Credentials enable individuals to gain access to buildings for which they are authorized.

Reporting Lost or Stolen Badges
Follow the instructions below when your SNL issued badge is lost or stolen.

During Work Hours
Report the lost or stolen badge occurence to the Badge Office and submit SF 2730-LSB, Lost/Stolen Badge Report to receive a replacement badge.

During Non-Working Hours
Report the stolen badge occurence immediately to the Protective Force (505) 844-3155 and to the incident reporting pager at (505) 540-2382 (SNL/NM) or the CA Inquiry Official at (925) 294-3238 (SNL/CA).

Report the lost badge occurence to the Badge Office the next business day and submit SF 2730-LSB, Lost Stolen Report to receive a replacement badge.
