Ujjwol Tamrakar showcases energy storage control strategies at RT25 Conference

Ujjwol Tamrakar presented a talk titled “High-Fidelity Testing and Validation of Energy Storage Controls” at the RT25 Conference on October 29, 2025. This presentation focused on a high-fidelity Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) testing platform designed for the development and testing of innovative control strategies for grid-connected energy storage systems. The platform effectively captures the practical aspects of real energy storage systems and detailed models of the electric grid, creating a near-realistic environment for design and testing. Several novel control techniques developed at Sandia National Laboratories were showcased, emphasizing on how the CHIL platform mitigates risks associated with these strategies to prevent deployment issues and operational failures. RT25 is a user conference bringing together global leaders, engineers, and innovators in real-time simulation. The work presented directly correlates with the event’s aim of using real-time simulation techniques to design, validate, and deliver smarter and resilient systems across various sectors.
