Key changes for the Fall 2026 season:
- To maintain SVBA’s affiliation with the Sandia Employee Recreation Program (SERP), which provides a subsidy to over half of the players and allows the league to use Sandia resources like websites and placing Sandia Daily News announcements, SVBA participation will be limited to:
- SERP-eligible players
- Sandia employees
- SERP-eligible spouses and dependents
- Non-SERP-eligible players
- JCC members
- Retired and former Sandia employees
- Current Sandia contractors and MOWs
- Current DOE/NNSA/KAFB employees and service members
- SVBA participants since January of 2025 (grandfathered players)
- SERP-eligible players
- There will no longer be SERP and JCC (non-SERP) teams or separate registration processes. All teams can roster both SERP-eligible and non-SERP-eligible players who meet the above criteria.
- Due to the change in team structure, any player can sub for any team, within the existing rules around number of subs and ‘playing down’.
- Captains will continue to submit a team roster during season registration. The rosters will consist of 6 core paying players and up to 5 non-paying alternate players.
- Players can only be listed on one roster per division irrespective of their status as a core or alternate player.
- Core players should have prioritized play time. There will be no difference in eligibility between core and alternate players. It will be up to each captain’s discretion if alternate players are allowed to play when all core players are available.
- All players will register and make an individual payment directly to the JCC during season registration.
- All payments are due August 12, 2026.
- SERP-eligible players will pay $45 for their first team
- If a SERP-eligible player is a core player on two different teams, they must register/pay as a Core SERP player for their first team and register/pay as a Core Non-SERP player for the second team.
- Non-SERP-eligible players will pay $85
- Alternate players will pay $0
Some benefits of these changes include:
- Individual registration allows for a diverse composition of teams, creating more equitable costs for all SERP-eligible players.
- Simplified league substitution rules.
- Players can use credit/debit cards for registration fees.
- Captains won’t have to front the full cost for the whole team and then collect payments from their players.
Reach out if you have any questions. We are excited to see you on the court!
