Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct

One of the key functions of Sandia National Laboratories is providing objective technical advice to the government on issues vital to our nation’s security. From the certification of the nuclear weapons stockpile to the assessment of new global threats, Sandia plays a central role in America’s defense.

Achieving our mission requires an exceptional adherence to the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity. It is only by constant attention to these standards that we earn and maintain the trust of our customers — trust that they can rely on in all of our assessments and products.

Every member of our team is accountable for upholding Sandia’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, which includes the following commitments:

  • Dealing honestly and fairly with employees, customers, contractors, and the communities in which we live and work. Our success depends on maintaining a culture of integrity, and we take this responsibility seriously.
  • Upholding both the letter and the spirit of the laws and regulations that govern our business. Labs team members are expected to perform their duties on behalf of Sandia in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining a professional work environment that is free from threats and acts of violence, bullying, abusive or intimidating conduct, or other similar behavior. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind. Respecting others and performing with excellence are key values in every area of our workplace.
