Welcome
Welcome to Sandia’s XR community! We organized in early 2018 as a small community of XR developers interested in finding others who were doing similar work. Since then we have grown into a large collaborative, knowledge-sharing community. As part of our knowledge-sharing effort, we have held multiple events, including annual conferences, for Sandia and external XR development teams and vendors to showcase their work. We have hosted presentations from companies like Microsoft, Unity, and Unreal, along with those from other national laboratories, Nuclear Security Enterprise sites, and academic institutions.
8th Annual XR Conference (July 21 – 22, 2026)
Sandia’s XR (Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality) Community of Practice is proud to host Sandia’s 8th Annual XR Conference, July 21–22, 2026.
Register now at no cost. A virtual attendance link will be sent after registration, and the agenda will be posted online as it is finalized. All are welcome. Attend any sessions that interest you.
The conference will feature keynote presentations from industry leaders, along with talks from XR developers inside and outside Sandia covering visualization, simulation, training, and more (details to follow). In addition to presentations, the program will include breakout sessions, panel discussions, and interviews with Sandia leadership on why adoption of XR technology is important for our enterprise.
All presentations on July 21 will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. For those with site access who would like to attend in person, we plan to play the live Teams presentations in the Steve Schiff Auditorium so groups can watch together.
In-person XR demonstrations will be held on July 22 at Sandia National Labs, Steve Schiff Auditorium. External attendees who would like to participate in person will need to coordinate site access through a Sandia sponsor.
