Workshop Overview
The DOE/NNSA Office of Radiological Security (ORS) presents the IRSAR Workshop, a comprehensive train-the-trainer program designed to equip law enforcement trainers with the knowledge and skills to establish and sustain radiological security and response training within their agencies.
Participants will learn to:
- Identify and understand radioactive materials of concern and associated risks
- Apply tactical response strategies and emergency communication protocols
- Utilize personal radiation equipment for situational awareness
- Develop customized “just-in-time” training curricula and realistic exercises
- Conduct teach-back sessions and practical scenerio-based training
This hands-on workshop empowers trainers to confidently lead radiological response training, enhancing their agency’s readiness, strengthening public safety, and reinforcing national security.
Who Should Attend?
Primary Audience
Law Enforcement and Special Operations Trainers who are responsible for training personnel in radiological security and response.
Supporting Participants:
To promote coordinate response efforts, limited participation is encouraged from:
- Regulatory Authority
- Investigations
- Emergency Communications
- Fire and Emergency Medical Services
- Hazardous Material or CBRN
- National Response representatives
Supporting agencies will gain valuable insights and improve interagency collaboration.
Note: Priority will be given to law enforcement trainers. Supporting agencies are encouraged to limit registrations to maximize cross-discipline participation. *Please bring a laptop if you are able.*
