Sandia National Laboratories invites you to attend a MaST and Infrastructure Workshop, to be held Sept 1st through the 3rd at the NM location of Sandia National Laboratories, in Albuquerque, NM. This workshop is being held as a part of the Mutual Defense Agreement (MDA) with the UK and in conjunction with the MMSC and Joint Operational Working Groups 9, 30, and 39 (Energetic Materials, Facilities, and Manufacturing). The workshop will be tentatively open for MaST presentations/discussions on the 1st and 2nd and then tours of the new EMSAT facility and the newly installed blast chambers are tentatively planned for the morning of the 3rd.
Topics encouraged, but are not limited to:
- Materials
- Particle and binder synthesis/engineeringImproved characterisation techniquesMeasurements of wetting characteristics and surface energyMitigation towards supply chain risksBinders for cast-curable and/or printable systems
- New technologies for batch and continuous synthesis/formulation
- Part Fabrication
- Plans for the future – pressing, machining.
- Improved understanding of processes, e.g. compaction process during pressing.
- Updates on conventional as well as new/advanced manufacturing technologies
- AM status and opportunities (site updates)
- Methodology
- Improved understanding between feedstocks, processes, structure and performance.
- Specification development.
- Product integration.
- Use of new tools that can help accelerate development and/or qualification (AI/ML approaches, in-situ diagnostics, optimization tools, high throughput sampling testing.
- Future Facilities
- E.g. Detonator Production – kit, processes, plans for future.
A no host social dinner will be planned for the evening of Sept 1st. Details will follow with location and cost.
