SIDLOC Testbed
The SIDLOC experiment, launched in July 2024 on the Ariane 6, was led by the Libre Space Foundation and FORTH. It involved a small satellite that successfully tested a new satellite identification and localization protocol by broadcasting a unique radio signal after launch. DAHCS has adopted this experiment as its testbed. The satellite, similar to some high-consequence systems, has an open-source nature that provides public engineering artifacts across multiple abstraction layers. The DAHCS testbed for SIDLOC includes all publicly available open-source artifacts, two physical builds of the key circuit boards, an internally developed state machine describing its intended operation, and several emulation elements (still in progress).
