Lauren Beghini

Biography

Lauren Beghini currently serves as the DAHCS Mission Campaign Senior Manager and leads the DAHCS Senior Manager Steering Committee, which focuses on mission integration and adoption. She is also currently the Senior Manager of the Cyber and Digital Assurance Group (8740). In this role, Lauren manages a diverse portfolio of cyber and digital assurance work and their key interfaces to deliver on the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) programs in partnership with other cyber organizations. Additionally, she leads the Nuclear Enterprise Assurance (NEA)/Nuclear Weapon Digital Assurance portfolio and plays a key role on the ND Cyber Integration team.

Lauren holds a BS, MS, and PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a BS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lauren joined Sandia in 2013 as a technical staff member with research interests spanning a variety of areas, including optimization, manufacturing process modeling, verification, validation and credibility processes for nuclear deterrence applications. She brings experience building and leading a variety of multidisciplinary programs spanning a broad range of applications and maturity levels, most recently including Provable Cyber Assurance (PCA), and formerly ModSim credibility for ND.  She transitioned from technical staff into management in 2020 as an acting manager for the Multiphysics Modeling and Simulation Department, then moved to the Verification, Validation, Uncertainty Quantification and Credibility Processes Department, where she managed numerous efforts for the Advanced Simulation & Computing (ASC) program in addition to the ModSim integration program. In 2023, she returned back to Center 8700 with the formation of the new Digital Foundations and Mathematics II Department, where she partnered with other cybersecurity centers and managed various capabilities related to formal methods supporting digital assurance for ND. In her time outside of Sandia, Lauren enjoys traveling, hiking, running, piano, and spending time with her family, including husband Alessandro and identical twins Aria and Ella.
