Pranay works closely with Sandia to provide insights to shape the development of national security solutions to federal sponsors across directorates, supporting Nuclear Deterrence, Global Security, and National Security Programs. He also works with colleagues across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE), adding his voice to efforts by the Cooperative Monitoring Center and the burgeoning Sandia Security Studies Institute (S3I) while advising Sandia leadership on policy discourse in Washington, DC. His coordination of policy- and outreach-relevant activities at Sandia with our NSE counterparts is vital to our shared success.

Pranay was previously the inaugural Senior Nuclear Fellow at the Center for Nuclear Security Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to that appointment, he served as the Senior Director for Arms Control, Disarmament, and Nonproliferation at the National Security Council, where he helped coordinate United States government policy efforts across strategic and extended deterrence, arms control, disarmament, nonproliferation, counterproliferation, counter-WMD, nuclear energy, and export controls.

Earlier in his career, Pranay served at the Department of State in several positions focused on arms control policy, treaty implementation and verification, and congressional affairs, and he has a breadth of experience in the Washington think-tank community. Pranay has authored multiple reports on nuclear and arms control policy, testified before Congress, and has been frequently quoted in numerous publications.

Pranay lives in Maryland with his wife, two kids, two cats, and one dog. When he is not busy wrangling mammals, he is an avid basketball player who is always looking for a pickup game. Pranay is also a long-suffering fan of the Buffalo Bills.
