
Hannah Haegeland is a Research Fellow in the International Security Program and Project on Managing the Atom at Harvard University’s Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. She is completing her PhD at Johns Hopkins University, in the Departments of the History of Science and Technology and Political Science with support from Hopkins’ Alexander Grass Humanities Institute. Hannah applies her interdisciplinary training and policy experience to research on global security, with a focus on nuclear issues and the global history of military technology in Asia.
Hannah previously directed South Asia research and engagement and some work in the Middle East for Sandia’s CMC. While at Sandia, Hannah convened Track 1.5 and Track 2 dialogues, designed and executed wargames and tabletop exercises, led internal and cooperative research studies between the CMC and organizations and scholars in partner countries, and supported Sandia training workshops, courses, visiting scholars, and diplomatic laboratory visits. Before joining Sandia, Hannah held research and teaching positions in Washington, D.C., Seattle, New Delhi, and Kathmandu focused on the security and history of South Asia.
