As a department manager in the Center for Global Security and Cooperation at Sandia National Laboratories, Adriane leads a team that works with international partners on nuclear security analysis; curriculum development, education, and capacity building; and operational improvements in strengthening the nonproliferation regime. Her team assists countries with emerging civilian nuclear power programs to establish insider threat mitigation programs using risk-based trustworthiness programs and by promoting a robust nuclear security culture.
Adriane also guides Sandia’s Cooperative Monitoring Center (CMC) efforts to facilitate scientific engagement for global security in the 21st century. The CMC fosters international engagement through collaborative research, international fellowships, and participation in Track 1.5 and Track 2 dialogues, and by hosting workshops, training courses, and physical site visits. Highlights of Adriane’s CMC work include leading transborder water quality monitoring in South Asia and engagement with Iraq’s science and technology community.
Specializing in regional security and cooperative threat reduction and working with international partners to develop regional solutions to conflicts and challenges, Adriane has worked extensively in South Asia and the Middle East on the following topics: scientist engagement; arms control; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives nonproliferation; U.S. export control law and implementation; insider threat mitigation; organizational culture and nuclear security culture; and comprehensive project management.
Her research publications include works on conventional arms control, the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, regional security and confidence building in the Middle East, Northeast Asia, South Asia, and cooperative resource monitoring. Her current research interests include insider threat mitigation, security integration, conflict resolution, and international terrorism.
