My name is Phan Ngoc Han, I’m a third-year student in Preventive Medicine at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. I have actively participated in academic clubs and collaborated on projects with international universities, gaining valuable experience in teamwork and communication. I possess strong communication skills and confidence when speaking in front of an audience, making me effective in delivering ideas and messages. With a deep passion for preventive medicine, I am dedicated to contributing to community health through meaningful educational initiatives and practical solutions.

Le Thuc Thien
My name is Le Thuc Thien, and I am currently a third-year student majoring in Medical Laboratory Technology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. I am a passionate individual with a strong curiosity for exploring, learning, and researching in the field of science. Therefore, it is both an honor and a great joy for me to participate in the Student Remote Engagement Conference for the first time. My name is Le Truong My Duyen. I am a fourth-year student majoring in Preventive Medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. Currently, I am the team leader of the student group at my university. Through participating in this program, I hope to interact with many new friends, develop my soft skills, and enhance my knowledge to contribute to improving public health.

My name is Phan Nguyễn Quỳnh Như. As a final-year veterinary medicine student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, I am drawn to this program’s innovative approach to veterinary medicine education. The prospect of collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds while developing essential clinical competencies resonates deeply with my educational goals.
The program’s integration with the VOHUN network and One Health principles offers an exceptional platform to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Châu Thị Anh Thi
My name is Châu Thị Anh Thi, and I am currently a final-year Veterinary Medicine student at Nong Lam University. I am excited to express my keen interest in joining this program, which I believe will help me grow both academically and professionally.
This opportunity will allow me to broaden my perspectives by interacting with peers from diverse backgrounds and exchanging ideas in a collaborative environment. I am eager to strengthen my communication skills, build meaningful connections, and enhance my ability to work effectively in a team setting.

TRẦN ĐỨC HIỂN (Also Participated in 2023 and 2024 Cohorts)
Tran Duc Hien is a Fifth-year veternary student, class 2020-2025, at Thai Nguyen university of agriculture and forestry, Course K52. He is currently a student but also had a business background working in the field of producing animal medicine and vaccination as well as medical equipment. He hopes to be able to make Vietnamese people achieve and exceed in global health safety and life expectancy. Joinging this project he hope to contribute all his knowledges as well as research related to animal-to-human transmission. Thanks to the activities of the One Health community as well as VOHUN, he has had a chance to fully optimize on his background and be able to make him one step closer to his target!

Nguyen Bao Anh
My name is Nguyen Bao Anh. I’m 21 years old. I’m from Vietnam. I’m living in Hanoi which is the capital of Vietnam. I studied in Vietnam Agriculture University for 3 years. I knew Onehealth club through my friend. Having so many reasons promote me decision joining VNUA-onehealth club and sign in this Remote Engagement seminar. Firstly, I’m a big fan of animal include pet and wild animal, I hope I might enrich my animal disease knowledge after join in this seminar, so I can apply that knowledge to rescue a lot of animals. The second, I have an obvious awareness about the important of the conjunction’s human, animal and environment, so I want to discover the methods, strategies to duel with the human, animal, environment issues. In addition, I really want to communicate with other students and the professors in the medical field. I think, it is the good way to me not only enrich the knowledge but also help me improve my presentation skills and communication skills.

Nguyen Thi Lan Anh
My full name is Nguyen Thi Lan Anh. I’m 21 years old. I come from Vietnam, which is a tropical country. I am currently living and studying Veterinary Medicine at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture as a fourth-year student. I got this opportunity to register for this remote engagement seminar through an introduction from one of my friends, who was a member of VNUA—OneHealth Club. I’m really into knowledge such as Infectious diseases, … because they are related to domestic animals, pets, wild animals, and human health. That’s why I applied to this seminar. I hope that after joining this event, I will obtain some information, methods, and strategies for protecting, preventing, and resolving human, animal, and environmental matters. Therefore, this is my honor to be a part of this seminar in which I can broaden my insight into the relationship between human health, animal health, and the environment; additionally, stepping up my game for skills such as communication skills, presentation skills.

Bảo Ngọc
I am currently a second-year veterinary student at Vietnam National University of Agriculture, class 2023–2028. Since my first year, I have been a member of the One Health Club, where I developed a strong interest in the One Health approach, especially the link between human and veterinary medicine. This is my first time to have the honor of participating in a CBRM workshop. I find it a great opportunity to learn, exchange knowledge, and strengthen my understanding of biosafety and biosecurity risk management by working together with professors and other students from different universities.

Đỗ Hoàng Kim Ngân
My name is Đỗ Hoàng Kim Ngân, I am 20 years old and from Bac Giang City, Vietnam. I am currently a third-year student at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture, living and studying in Hanoi.
As an animal lover with a deep interest in the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment, I was introduced to the concept of One Health and joined the One Health Club at my university. Through its activities, I have not only gained a broader understanding of various animal species, from pets to wildlife, but also developed a stronger awareness of the importance of protecting our shared environment.
I am particularly excited about the opportunity to collaborate with students from medical schools on One Health-related projects. This is a valuable opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and deepen my expertise in this field. I hope that the CBRM event will enable me to gain further insights and practical skills to grow both academically and personally.

Nguyễn Trường Giang
Nguyen Truong Zang is a second-year medical student, class 2023-2029, at Phenikaa University. He is now a student and a volunteer for the Phenikaa Green project. He is happy to contribute one hand to making Vietnamese achieve and exceed in global health safety and life expectancy. Being a participant in Remote Engagement, he hopes to use his medical knowledge related to zoonotic transmission. Thanks to the activities of the One Health community as well as VOHUN, he has had a chance to fully optimize his background and be able to make his steps closer to his target!

Nguyễn Thị Tường Vân
Nguyen Thi Tuong Van is a third-year student majoring in Biotechnology (Class of 2022-2027) at Phenikaa University, has a profound love for cats, raising four of them at home. This passion has sparked my special interest in Toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection with its definitive host being members of the Felidae family.
Joining this project is a wonderful opportunity for me to enhance my understanding of preventing zoonotic diseases, protecting not only myself but also contributing to the well-being of the wider community. With a solid foundation in Biotechnology and a deep enthusiasm for scientific research, I hope to play a small but meaningful role in the project’s success.
I am thankful to the One Health community and VOHUN for creating an environment for learning and knowledge exchange, empowering me to grow and contribute to public health initiatives effectively.

Lương Thị Lệ Thủy
I am Lương Thị Lệ Thủy, a third-year Biotechnology student at Phenikaa University. With a passion for the One Health field and a desire to contribute to raising awareness about health knowledge for the community, I have had the opportunity to become the Deputy Chair of the One Health Club at Phenikaa University. By participating in Remote Engagement this year, I hope to use my knowledge to contribute to research related to infectious diseases.

Trần Ngọc Linh
Hello everyone, my name is Tran Ngoc Linh. I’m a second-year student majoring in Medical Laboratory Technology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City. I learned about the VOHUN program from my class monitors and decided to join because I think it’s a great learning opportunity. Joining this program will help deepen my medical knowledge and further improve my English and teamwork skills. This is also a chance for me to learn from experts in the medical field, thus helping me from my own career path. Because of all that, I’m very excited to be here today.

Huỳnh Đăng Khôi
My name is Huynh Dang Khoi. I am really elated for having opportunity to attend this project and introduce myself. Being a student from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh city I am really proud of myself. After about 2 years being a part of this school, it has given me many changes to develop myself by meeting the AUN accreditation board and welcoming other international students to visit the school, I can say that I am truly honored to have been chosen as a direct interlocutor with the AUN accreditation board examiner last year. Some of the achievements that I have personally achieved are achieving 6.5 IELTS, participating in scientific research projects in English, good presentation ability in English as well as confidence when communicating with others. It has been a great foundation to help me develop myself. To be honest, as soon as I received information about the program, I was very interested and signed up without hesitation in the hope of being able to access the diverse cultures of America and have the opportunity to meet experts. and international friends and most of all, develop yourself. With the spirit of exploring and learning as well as discovering the wonderful things that this program brings, I am very grateful to the organizers for organizing this project so that I can participate and express myself. My name is Nguyen Trinh Phi Long, I am a sophomore majoring in Medical Laboratory Technology at University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. Today I am very honored to be one of the candidates representing our university to participate in this competition.

Tran Lam Phuong Anh
I am a fifth-year student of Advanced Veterinary Medicine at Nong Lam University in Ho Chi Minh City, passionate about fostering the well-being of animals, humans, and the environment through One Health principles.
My journey has been shaped by hands-on veterinary practice during my internship at Pet Pola Veterinary Clinic and leadership roles, including serving as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. I also led research initiatives addressing pressing veterinary and public health challenges; I participated in seminars on critical topics like antibiotic resistance.
With a strong foundation in veterinary medicine and a passion for community engagement, I aspire to contribute meaningfully to advancing veterinary science and One Health through the VOHUN program.

Dang Thi Hanh Duyen
I am a veterinary student at Nong Lam University, Ho Chi Minh City. With a strong passion for animal health and welfare, I am always dedicated to advancing my knowledge and skills in veterinary medicine, thereby making meaningful contribution to my organization and community, specializing in animal fields.
I was a veterinary assistant and intern at clinics like Petland Veterinary Clinic and TrustVet Veterinary Hospital, I have sharpened my skills in providing medical care, assisting with procedures, and ensuring the well-being of patients.
I also contribute to scientific research, such as my work on the “Application of femoral head and neck ostectomy in dogs” from which I gain my scientific research skills. During my participation in Engscope Veterinary Medicine Club, I gained the love for one health and was motivated to contribute to my community.

NGUYEN THU TRANG
I am currently pursuing a veterinary medicine degree at Nong Lam University
(2020-2026), I maintain a solid academic performance with a GPA of 3.0/4.0. Knowing the concept of the “One Health” approach about the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. With a passion for wild animals as well as wildlife conservation, and an enthusiasm for understanding the vital connection between those three important components. It is a great opportunity for me to be here at this engagement.
I have actively participated in biodiversity conservation efforts, wildlife monitoring using camera traps at Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park, and initiatives like the LAWA Model, which promotes liver fluke control and agricultural benefits within communities. Additionally, I have gained insights into important wildlife issues, such as the reproduction challenges faced by the critically endangered Sumatran Rhino.

Ha Thai Duong
Ha Thai Duong is a second- year medical student, class 2022-2028, at Phenikaa Universityi. He devoted himself to achieving his goal of becoming a doctor. Realizing the importance of improving public health, he knew he needed to be prepared, as a doctor, to be able to work under immense pressure and in a life-or-death situation, to perfection so patients are treated well and saved. Therefore, he is constantly learning and expanding his knowledge. Thanks to One Health community activities like VOHUN, he is aware of the great importance of Biological Risk Management in hospitals to maintain public health.

Nguyen Quynh Trang
Nguyen Quynh Trang is a 3rd-year pharmacy student of Phenikaa University, class of 2026. She has a passion for healthcare and medicine, and I have gained extensive knowledge in pharmacology and chemistry, along with hands-on skills through lab work and internships. She strives to develop my communication and teamwork skills and actively participates in extracurricular activities to gain practical experience. Do Nhat Long
Do Nhat Long is a fourth-year medical student of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, class 2020 – 2026. To become a good doctor, it is necessary to grasp the actual situation of some common epidemics today to prevent and treat them promptly. Vu Hong Duc
Vu Hong Duc is a 4th-year medical student of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 2020-2026. As a future doctor, he knows that to create a good life, health is indispensable. And the best way to maintain good health is not only to rely on more and more improved treatments, but also to prevent diseases early, which plays an extremely important role. When he learned about VOHUN, he knew that this was a program that could help him gain a deeper understanding of the reality of disease prevention work in the world and specifically in Vietnam and help him practice his knowledge and skills in it.

Nguyen Thu Trang
Nguyen Thu Trang is a first – year medical student, class 2023 – 2029, at Phenikaa University. She pursues her passion for healthcare by reading books and learning other skills. Tran Khanh Vy (Also Participated in 2022 Cohort)
Tran Khanh Vy is a fourth-year medical student, class 2020-2026, at University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University Hanoi. Having witnessed how Vietnam has managed to stand strong through the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic with limited resources thanks to 5K rules and preventive measures, she recognizes the important role of public health to promote a healthy and successful country. This encourages her to become a doctor with a determined effort to help people prevent, enhance and maintain public health. Thus, she considers herself highly fortunate to have been given another opportunity to take part in this program, where she can learn about public health and share knowledge with others who have similar interests.

Phan Thanh Xuan is a 5th-year student, course 2019-2024, at Thai Nguyen university of agriculture and forestry. Her ambition is become to a veterinary who be able to research and contribute the most useful achievements to animals. Thanks to the activities of the One Health community as well as VOHUN, she has had more opportunities to learn and exchange knowledge to develop more meaningful topics for the future and as a veterinary student, she will try her best to research and contribute to public health.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai (Also Participated in 2023 Cohort)
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai is a 5th year veterinary student, semester 2019-2024, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. Her desire is to become a talented, enthusiastic and passionate veterinarian. She used to be one of the members of the SORT team, so she has a good understanding of the issues related to the risk of infection from animals to humans, assessing how it affects the community. Thank you to VOHUN for creating the perfect condition and environment for her to contribute a small part of her efforts to this project. Vu Minh Anh is a dedicated and enthusiastic student pursuing a degree in preventive medicine at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. As an active member of the Faculty of Public Health and the One Health Club since 2020, Minh Anh has shown strong leadership skills, currently serving as the club’s leader. With a passion for public health and animal welfare, Minh Anh has found the One Health Club to be a perfect platform for exploring these interests with like-minded peers. Do Quynh Anh studies preventive medicine at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. She has been a member of one health club since her first year of university. She has participated in many programs organized by VOHUN such as camps, BRM, etc. She has had the opportunity to exchange, make friends, and improve her knowledge as a member of VOHUN. My name is Nguyen Huu Tu, 21. Up to now, I’m the third-year student in Veterinary Medicine at Vietnam National University of Agriculture. With the passion for animals, I always try to gain knowledges about animals, also the relationship between humans and animals. Pham Thu Huong
My name is Pham Thu Huong. I’m a third-years student in Veterinary Medicine at Vietnam National University of Agriculture. To become a good veterinarian in the future. I have received the necessary formulation of many factors that influence the power of public health and disease reduction. I am a 4th year student majoring in Veterinary Medicine at Vietnam University of Agriculture. I like to participate and experience activities to have a richer view of my field of study. Thanks to the activities of the One Health network, I better understand the close relationship between humans and animals as well as the risks of infectious diseases. I hope that participating in the Capacity Building Project for Biological Risk Management (CBRM) will help me strengthen my capacity to manage biological risks while also strengthening veterinarians’ responsibility in addressing them. concerns from a One Health perspective.

I am a final-year student of Animal Medicine & Science. I am now working as a doctor assistant at Thonglor Bangkok Pet Hospital. I used to have a 3-month internship in Australia and that is a great opportunity and experience for me to learn about other countries’ cultures and epidemiology.
I am interested in animals, particularly companion animals, and I am quite concerned about their health. I feel that if we take good care of them, we can have a positive impact on human, environmental, and public health. Do Tra My
Hi, I’m Do Tra My, a junior at Hanoi Medical university pursuing a degree in dietetics. Over the past few years, my studies have provided me with a strong foundation in the science of nutrition, and I am excited to further develop my practical skills in clinical settings. I’m dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles through personalized dietary plans and am eager to collaborate with my peers and instructors. I hope to enhance my knowledge and contribute to the field of dietetics on my tertiary journey at HMU.

Le Phuc Thanh
Hello, my name is Le Phuc Thanh and I am currently studying Preventive Medicine. With skills in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services management, and health promotion, my ultimate goal is to implement and manage effective health strategies that can minimize the spread and impact of diseases in our society. I believe that thorough research in these areas can lead to significant advancements in preventive medicine, ultimately improving public health outcomes.

Le Tran Hoang Anh
Le Tran Hoang Anh is a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Vietnam University of Agriculture (VNUA). Due to her love for animals, she chose this career in the hope that she could do something better for them. Gradually, she realizes the significance of this path for society and the relationship between animal health, human health, and the environment for the community’s development. As a result, she strives to dedicate herself to making her community a better place. Participating in the Capacity Building in Biorisk Management (CBRM) Project allows her to strengthen her biorisk management capacity while reinforcing veterinarians’ responsibility to address concerns from a One Health perspective.

Le Thi Duyen
Le Thi Duyen is a fourth-year student in veterinary medicine at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture. She would like to learn more about the relationship between animals and humans and zoonotic disease to contribute to imparting knowledge about protecting the health of humans and animals to everyone. Thanks to the activities of the One Health network, she became more aware of the need for biological risk management and the responsibilities of a veterinarian. So as a veterinary medicine student, she will do her best to minimize biological risks to the community.

Hoang Trung Bach
Hoang Trung Bach is a fourth-year student at Vinh Medical University. His major is general practitioner. Being cognizant of the important relationship and interactions between humans and animals, he has devoted himself to chasing his career path as a doctor. By him troth, he engaged in various programs to heighten his understanding. As a medicine student, he is wholehearted to help reduce biological risk to the public.

Kieu Nguyen Chung Thuy
Kieu Nguyen Chung Thuy is a fourth-year student at Vinh Medical University.
Ever since I was young, I always loved human science. I just enjoyed everything about it. How the body functions interest me, both in health and in illness, how to find out what was wrong and how to address it. It has always been my dream to be a doctor and I’ve been working hard nonstop for 12 years to be here. Tran Thi Kim Quy is a fourth-year student at Vinh Medical University.

Vu Thi Trang
Vu Thi Trang, a 3rd-year preventive medicine student at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, loves cooking and traveling. Her favorite quote, “Maturity is the process of constantly discovering that your past self has turned out to be stupid,” drives her to improve and embrace better values. Trinh Mai Phuong
Trinh Mai Phuong is a third-year pharmacy student, class 2020-2025, at University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University Hanoi. She has a passion for improving people’s lives. With her major in pharmacy, she has more opportunities to learn about human health and become a medication specialist. In addition, with a future role as a health professional, she understands the importance of relationship and interactions between animals and humans. Thus, thanks to being a part of the Remote Engagement team of the One Health community as well as VOHUN, she has been provided and inspired to be more deeply aware about biorisk management while reinforcing the responsibility of pharmacists to maintain public health.

Tran Thi Ngoc Anh
Tran Thi Ngoc Anh is a third- year medical student, class 2020-2026, at University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University Hanoi. She devoted herself to achieving her goal of becoming a doctor. Realizing the importance of improving public health, she knew she needed to be prepared, as a doctor, to be able to work under immense pressure and in a life-or-death situation, to perfection so patients are treated well and saved. Therefore, she is constantly learning and expanding her knowledge. Thanks to One Health community activities like VOHUN, she is aware of the great importance of Biological Risk Management in hospitals to maintain public health.

Nguyen Thi Hu
Nguyen Thi Hue is a second-year student of Biotechnology Department, Phenikaa University. Her ambition is to become a biotechnology engineer who contributes the most useful achievements to everyone. Thanks to the activities of One Health community as well as VOHUN, she has gained tremendous experience as well as developing more meaningful ideas for the future.

Nguyen Hoang Ha Linh
Nguyen Hoang Ha Linh is a second-year student majoring in Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering of Phenikaa University. As a student in Biology, the first thing we need to pay attention to is biosecurity. So when participating in the project to improve the capacity of biosafety risk management, she can learn many new things as well as many different aspects in biosafety.

Le Thi Hoang Dung
Le Thi Hoang Dung is a 2nd year student studying biotechnology at Phenikaa University. The more deeply she learns about this field, the more interesting she is with scientific research, not only learning theories in class but also participating in practice and other soft skills. Her enthusiasm for learning led her to join CBRM. It was also an opportunity for her to learn and help her identify possible vulnerabilities, even in well-managed environments, and she hopes more people can come to know CBRM to promote collaboration and effectively contribute to global biological risk reduction.
Student Biographies 2021

Thuy Nguyen
Thuy Nguyen is a fifth year student of Preventive Medicine major at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. A field that is not only theory but requires students to be dynamic and have multi- dimensional perspectives, constantly updating knowledge. She really likes practical sessions to interact with the community to better understand the problems related to the epidemic in reality, thereby offering effective preventive measures and control of diseases for everyone. It is really a joy when she feels that she can do things that are truly meaningful. Participating in Remote Engagement 2021 also in the context of Covid-19 Pandemic, Thuy Nguyen has self-consciousness of her role that could become a part of repelling the Covid-19 pandemic progress. This is the occasion for interacting with friends from different universities but also participating in a professional environment when having experts find solutions for the definite health problems that students were setting up. For her, it was truly a great valuable student experience.

Thanh Bui
Thanh Bui is a final-year preventive medicine student at University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. He was also the student leader of a joint research project on Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) between Ho Chi Minh City University Medical Center and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He also presented a scientific poster on wastewater-based epidemiology of alcohol and tobacco in Hanoi, Vietnam, at the Testing the Water 5 conference hosted by the University of Queensland. In addition to his academic activities, he is very active in social activities and is currently involved as a Public Engagement Ambassador in the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit and coordinator in the Beyond COVID-19 Task Force of the Association of Vietnamese Experts and Scientists. Dr. Thanh has also participated in several international programs with the Karolinska Institute (Sweden), the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) and Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Israel). Through his research and extracurricular activities, he has learned about the profound impact of infectious diseases throughout human history and the need for global collaboration in this area to preserve a better future for the next generation. By joining VOHUN Remote Engagement 2021, Thanh aims to learn from experts in the field of infection control and expand his network with other students in Vietnam.

Ha Du Thi Ngoc
Ha Du Thi Ngoc is currently finalizing her fifth year at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University in Hanoi. Her initial desire is always to assist others with comprehensive healthcare conditions and create collaborations between human and multiple natural disciplines. Henceforward, throughout the meaningful experience from being a member of the students of the VOHUN network, not only does it help to fulfil her dream of attaining optimal health for people, animals and our environment, but it also raises her beneficial consciousness about reducing biorisk in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.

Dam Thi Quynh Anh
Dam Thi Quynh Anh, currently, is a senior veterinary student at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Her passion for biological science has been ignited since she was a biological gifted student at Ha Long High school for Gifted Students. During her tenure as a chairman of the Veterinary Medicine English Club, Quynh Anh has many great opportunities to learn more about the enormous influence of animals on human life and vice versa, helping her in staying highly motivated to pursue her dream job is to work for the non-government organization for animals. Joining the VOHUN Remote Engagement 2021 is a wonderful new experience, especially in the context of COVID-19, she is aware more than ever of the importance of animals to humans, and the ways how people treat nature today determine human life tomorrow.

To My Quyen
To My Quyen is currently a senior which majoring in Veterinary Medicine at the College of Agriculture, Can Tho University. As a student, she always tries to apply knowledge learned in practice by taking part in practical training courses to consolidate enough technical skills and experience. In the early stage of tertiary education, she has already been conscious of the importance of languages in the medical field. In addition, English is also her favorite subject, which is a drive to put her forward towards long-term goals related to science researches. In light of these, participating in the VOHUN Remote Engagement 2021 is an excellent opportunity to cultivate not only the soft skills to interact and collaborate with the team members but also the practical knowledge about Biorisk Management which has been shared by a host of professional experts, especially in the current context of COVID-19 pandemic.

Phan Quang Huy
Phan Quang Huy is currently finishing his fourth year majoring Public Health at the Insitute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Hanoi Medical University. Always strive to make a different and bring positive changes to the community is the motivation behind Huy’s every actions. Having the opportunity to volunteer working at the frontline during the 4th wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Southern provinces of Vietnam is a unique experience that exposed Huy to the real importance of having a functioning, well-constructed public health system and workforce to the overall well-being of the community. Huy also have a big interest in anthropology, studying different cultures and communities as a way to easier understand and connect with people from all over the world. Pham Bich Ngoc
Pham Bich Ngoc is currently a final-year veterinary student at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry. In 2015, she had experienced 1 year as a volunteer at the ‘Danang Animal Rescue Group’, that made her become more interested in being a veterinarian and determined to become both ethical and professional. She fascinates participate in research activities relative to veterinary immunology. Beside, she additionally effort to participates in several linking activities between Vietnam and different nations such as Course in Handling Veterinary Drugs in Denmark, Student exchange in RMUTTO Thailand,… After graduating, with her strengths in English and Korean, she will proceed her target – studying Master of Veterinary in South Korea and becoming an expert in Veterinary Immunology. Participating in BRM 2021 organized by VOHUN associated with the US Department of Defense Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP) and Sandia National Laboratory (SNL), she shares about Rabies along with biological risk management for Rabies. As a veterinary student, she always comprehends and makes equipped to reduce the risk of infectious diseases between humans and animals.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Trang
Nguyen Thi Phuong Trang is currently a fifth-year student at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, majoring at Preventive Medicine. In her opinion, prevention is better than cure, that’s why becoming a preventive medicine doctor is always her first choice. Since entering university, she has participated in various One Health activities, from weekly seminars in school’s club to VOHUN’s different competitions and camps. Thanks to that, she has not only gained a lot of useful knowledge and skills but also made friends from many regions in Viet Nam. 2021 is the second year Trang takes part in Biorisk Management, besides being so honor, she thinks this is a good chance for her to keep learning about biorisk which is an indispensable aspect in medicine especially in pandemic so as to apply it in her future career.

Shruti Sonkusare
Shruti Sonkusare is currently studying in Third year of Bacherlors in Science, Major Zoology from the Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ganeshkhind, Pune, India [Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune]. As a student she is always enthusiastic about gaining knowledge. In addition to being a keen biodiversity enthusiast, she also excels in other Co-curricular activities. She also has undying passion for theatre and arts. Some of the extracurricular activities are Conserve Mother Earth, a student outreach programme, which spread and cultivated a curiosity regarding natural sciences in students. She has also undertaken a survey pertaining to various dermatological problems faced by people in all walks of life. Dhananjay Virkar
Dhananjay Virkar is currently pursuing Bachelors in Science, Major Zoology from the Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ganeshkhind, Pune, India [Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune]. As a student, he always tries to apply the knowledge he has learned in every minute observation in his day-today life. He is enthusiastic about biodiversity and genetics, loves to share and spread knowledge, and consistently takes part in extracurricular activities. He has also undertaken a sociological survey, assessing the opinions and concerns of a wide variety of people regarding the important issue of climate change. He is also working on a project compiling a database and underlying genetic analysis of the blood groups of a specific set of individuals. Prachi Kamble
Prachi Kamble is a final year student of Master’s with Specialization in Entomology at the Department of Zoology, Modern College, Ganeshkhind. Her Project includes Biocontrol of Stored Grain Pest by using Botanical Extracts. Throughout her study, she has participated in various activities being a Committee Member and Volunteer. During her Graduation she has participated in International Workshop on “TEACHERS EDUCATION IN INDIA” conducted by SPPU and University of South Eastern Norway. Being a part of VOHUN BRM project is a new challenge that she allows herself to learn more about Biorisk Management and can apply this knowledge into her future career.

Roohi Noor
Roohi Noor is currently pursuing Masters in Science, Major Zoology from the Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ganeshkhind, Pune, India [Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune]. She is well-known in academic circles for her diligence in studying as well as her helpful manner. She was active in extracurricular activities and got a reward for the best presentation in the seminar for environmental awareness in Conserve Mother Earth. This experience gave her an important lesson in leadership and inspired her to continue in the field of teaching. Student Biographies 2020

Anh Vu
With the passion for natural science, Anh Vu attended a biological gifted class at High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education. Currently, being a third-year General Medical student at the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University in Hanoi, she has more opportunities to approach science. Especially, in the context of COVID-19, she takes a chance to participate and present a COVID-19 case under the guidance of Biorisk Management experts through case-based learning that is hosted by VOHUN in collaboration with the US Department of Defense Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP) and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL). In the aspect of a medical student, she is willing to join hands to reduce biorisk for the masses. She is also concerned about Psychology and Buddhism because she believes that human health can be improved not only through the physical side but also mentally.

Dzung Hoang Ho
Dzung Hoang Ho has been pursuing a medical career since her secondary school. As a senior medical student at Hanoi Medical University, she decided to become a public health specialist. Not only does she understand the impact of public health on society, but she also is passionate about working with data. Her research interests are cancer epidemiology, sexual and reproductive health. Furthermore, throughout the experiences from the response team of COVID-19 (at Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and VOHUN One Health Biorisk Management sessions, she is more aware than ever of the biorisk management and willing to contributing to reducing it.

Duyen Tran Thi
Duyen Tran Thi is a final year student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Being early aware of the important relationship and interaction between animal and human, she endeavors her career path as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Her dream is to contribute to building a clean and healthy food chain of Vietnamese brand to reach the world. Participating in the VOHUN network is an extremely rewarding and meaningful experience for Duyen, where a harmonious combination of human health and veterinary medicine is a premise for the protection of human health.

Phuong Nguyen Thi Mai
Phuong Nguyen Thi Mai is finishing her second year at School of Medicine and Pharmacy – Vietnam National University in Hanoi where she is studying general medicine. Although she has yet to declare a specialty, she is considering dermatology. In high school, Phuong attended Foreign Language Specialized School and were fascinated by the study of foreign languages. As a volunteer translator for several medical events, she learnt the importance of languages in the medical field. In the future, she hopes to help Vietnam’s medical industry develop and be known worldwide. Phuong spends her free time playing the violin and doing craftwork.

Tam Nguyen Thi Thanh
Tam is a 5th year student of Haiphong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, majoring at Preventive Medicine. She also has been a member of One Health Club for almost 5 years and had a lot of experience from this wonderful organization. One Health approach in general and particularly Biorisk Management Remote Engagement Session are so interesting to her that she always wants to learn more and hope that she can apply them into her future career as a good preventive doctor.

Tu Nguyen Nhut Vinh
Tu Nguyen Nhut Vinh is a senior veterinary student at the Nong Lam University in Ho Chi Minh City. Throughout her study at the university, she donated her time to attend multiple activities, such as being an English teacher for a primary school in Thailand; a veterinary intern at the Thonglor International Pet Hospital in Bangkok; an intern in business development of veterinary medicine of a global multinational company. During her free time at home, she never stopped caring for her pets. She also aims to be a veterinary nutritional specialist in the future. Thanks to VOHUN One Health Biorisk Management Remote Engagement sessions, Tu is aware of the importance of managing biological risks in veterinary medicine to maintain public health. Therefore, she is willing to share her knowledge with other people.

Tran Pham Tien Thinh
Tran Pham Tien Thinh is a final-year vet student at Nong Lam University. He developed an early interest in veterinary public health and project management.
Thinh has participated in many volunteer activities, namely, Asean Veterinary Student Volunteer Project 2019 (AVVP 2019) in Thailand; Continuing Professional Development – The Technician’s Role on the Veterinary Team, October 2019, Indonesia; The 2nd International Conference On One Health” on 10th – 11th October 2019, Indonesia as well as other activities held by VOHUN.
This year, he had his very first publication titled “Effects of mannan oligosaccharides and colistin on growth performance and immune responses of Luong Phuong broilers” in Journal of Science in Can Tho University, Vol. 56. Currently, Thinh has also taken part in Rabies Risk Communication as a leader of team 2 which won the first prize of One Health Camp 2020.
He plans to complete his graduation project in March 2021, finishing the undergraduate advanced program in Veterinary Medicine in July 2021. After graduation, he continues to pursue a master’s degree in veterinary medicine as well as follow his dream of becoming a vet teacher.

Ha Do
Ha Do has just graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Ho Chi Minh city as a Bachelor of Public Health. Along the journey of studying, she has found the outstanding role of public health in improving human being’s health physically and mentally. She is working to develop her and healthcare providers’, nurses’ particularly, capability for research conduct. In the future, Ha Do aims to contribute more to building gender equality and education development. Joining the VOHUN BRM project is a new challenge that she allows herself to learn more about Biorisk Management and the role of public health specialists in this field.
