Please note the following:
- You must wear your badge at all times while on-site at Sandia. Badges should be worn above the waist (prominently displayed) on your outer clothing at all times while you are on Sandia premises. Your badge should not be worn off Sandia premises or used for personal identification.
- Visitor badges must be returned to Sandia at the end of your visit. You can give your badge to your host or bring it to a Sandia badge office. Do not put your badge in the badge return boxes near the guard posts upon exiting.
Controlled Articles
Controlled articles, such as portable electronic devices (PEDs), include both government and personally-owned devices that are capable of recording information or transmitting data (e.g., audio, video, radio frequency, infrared, and/or data link electronic equipment).
At Sandia, controlled articles may not be introduced into Limited Areas or Vault-Type Rooms (VTRs) without prior authorization.
PEDs will not be permitted within Limited Area boundaries, including outside of buildings, and must remain in the personal protection area (PPA).
Prohibited Articles
Prohibited articles are not allowed on Sandia-controlled premises without permission.
The following constitute prohibited articles:
○ Explosives
○ Guns
○ Instruments or material likely to produce substantial injury to persons or damage to property
○ Controlled substances (e.g., illegal drugs and associated paraphernalia)
○ Alcohol
○ Hazardous radiological, chemical, or biological materials
○ Personal chemical protection sprays, regardless of size
○ Any other items prohibited by law
Med Peds
Medical devices (i.e. hearing aid, glucose monitor, etc.) may be used onsite and in the Limited Area; however, the user must complete an authorization request 30 days prior to visiting any secure space. Please contact polymac2026@sandia.gov for details of MedPed approval.
