Day 3: Tours of the SNL HE&E Facilities. (Optional)
Both tour options will end at 11:30 a.m. MT on Thursday, May 23, 2024 to assist you in arranging for travel
Attendees wanting to participate in the tours must choose from the following options when registering:
Tour Option 1:
Building 905 Explosive Component Facility (ECF) Complex – The ECF provides energetics science and technology, material science, and component design and development. Features include explosives testing labs, firing chambers and pads, and storage bunkers. Explosive storage bunkers and other support buildings are included in the complex.
Tour Option 2:
Light Initiated High Explosives (LIHE) Test Facility – Test facility to simulate shock loading from external sources and to investigate the structural response of complex test items such as re-entry bodies/vehicles.
Terminal Ballistics Facility (TBF) – The TBF employs conventional and custom explosive loads to conduct interior ballistics, projectile flight, terminal ballistics, armor performance, and other investigations.
Note: Each tour option will be limited to 40 persons
Food and Beverage
The agenda includes working lunches on Day 1 and Day 2. We will be partnering with SNL’s onsite catering to offer meals within per diem rates. If you choose to opt out, you cannot partake.

Transportation and Parking
Transportation will not be provided. Parking spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis located north of Building 905.
Restrictions
No cell phones, smart watches, 2-way pagers, personal laptop computers, iPads, flash drives, or other electronic transmitting devices allowed in Building 905.

MedPEDS
Those attendees with Medically necessary Portable Electronic Devices (MedPEDs) must request approval from the Sandia Field Office by April 19th, 2024. DOE requires 30 days to process requests. Please send your completed MedPED Form to SNL POC: Jessica Wood at NECC2024@sandia.gov
Medical portable electronic devices (MedPEDs) are:
- medically necessary devices
- prescribed or recommended by a licensed practitioner
- part of a plan to treat a medical condition
For the purpose of this process, MedPEDs include electronic devices with prohibited technology*. This includes devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, drug-releasing pumps, hearing aids, and diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves. MedPEDS can be external or internal (implanted) devices.
* Data storage, camera, microphone, Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth, etc.
