Things to Do Around Albuquerque

Sandia Peak Tram

The Sandia Peak Tramway is an aerial tramway, adjacent to Albuquerque, New Mexico. It stretches from the northeast edge of the city to Sandia Peak, on the ridge line of the Sandia Mountains and has the world’s third longest single span. Hike along the ridge then stop at the restaurant at the top for a snack. Tickets are $34.00 for a round trip.  Set aside a couple hours to fully enjoy this.

National Nuclear Science Museum

The nation’s only congressionally chartered museum in its field and an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today’s peaceful uses of nuclear technology. It is just down the street from the conference venue and tickets are $17.00.

Historic Old Town

Centered around the plaza, Albuquerque’s Old Town comprises about ten blocks of historic adobe buildings. On the north side of the plaza is the San Felipe de Neri Church, the oldest building in the city, built in 1793. Surrounding the church, the city’s settlers had built their homes, shops and government offices, many of which have been converted into the restaurants, art galleries and shops of Old Town.
