Human Factors

Sandia National Laboratories has been at the forefront of identifying and quantifying human error since the 1960’s when Alan Swain presented a paper introducing a Technique for Human Error Rate Prediction (THERP) at the Human Factors Society symposium. Over time, Sandia’s role in modeling how humans interact within complex systems has expanded to consider human tasks, workload, situational awareness, cognition, and decision-making.
