Ron A. Oldfield

Manager
Scalable Analysis and Visualization

Welcome to my home page. I manage the Scalable Analysis & Visualization department at Sandia National Laboratories. I joined Sandia National Laboratories in 1992 as a student intern from the University of New Mexico. After getting my B.S. from UNM in 1993, I joined the Computational Sciences department at Sandia and worked on a number of interesting projects writing programs for molecular visualization, data clustering, parallel acoustic wave propagation, and seismic imaging. In 1997, I left Sandia to attend graduate school at Dartmouth College, receiving a Ph.D. from the computer science department in May, 2003. Later in 2003, I returned to Sandia to join the scalable system software department. Since 2003, I have been actively engaged in a number of research areas, including system software, parallel file systems, scalable I/O libraries and middleware, resilience, performance modeling, and advanced architectures for analytics. In addition to managing the Scalable Analysis and Visualization department, I manage the ASC/CSSE projects in I/O and storage, and scalable data analysis. I am also the capability-area lead for Trilinos I/O.
