Environmental Chambers

There are a number of environmental chambers in use at the TTC, with various size and temperature capabilities to accommodate a wide range of tests.
radiant heat

Radiant Heat Testing

A viable alternative to fire testing is the use of radiant heat lamps as a heat source. Such setups are amenable to modeling, and provide an excellent method for developing and validating test item fire response models.

Fire Testing

Fire temperatures range from 800-1200°C and heat fluxes from 75 to 250 kW/m2, and can be tailored to the requirements. Test units in our enclosed facilities range from cylinders 1 m high x 1 m diameter to much smaller units.  Larger units can be tested in our outdoor fire test facility.

Thermal Diagnostics

Thermal property measurement capabilities have been developed to support thermal analyses. Most thermal properties are required as functions of temperature because they can vary a large amount within the temperature range we operate in.
