The Robot Rodeo is a prime opportunity for expert bomb squad operators and public safety professionals from around the world to gather and employ advanced skills manuevering Hazardous Duty Robots in challenging, real-world scenarios. Los Alamos National Labs and Sandia National Labs are partners in conducting the 8th Annual Western National Robot Rodeo™ in cooperation with the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators (IABTI) Region II.

The hands-on scenarios can include:

  • IED and VBIED Disablement
  • CONOPS
  • Tool, Techniques, and Procedures
  • DHS Critical Infrastructures – Communications; Power and Distribution; and Ports
  • Transportation – Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
  • Obstacle Course and Operator Profeciency
  • Logistics

Please complete our registration form for your team and all its members.  Fill out the form as completely as possible and take care to note any special requests or special dietary needs.

Robot Rodeo activities take place both indoors and outdoors. We suggest planning ahead – hats, sunglasses, gloves, and appropriate clothing for very warm weather are a must. Clothing should be comfortable and casual; shoes must provide full coverage (no sandals or open-toe shoes; tennis shoes are acceptable).  Participants will also need to bring any tools they may need to repair robots or equipment should the need arise. Please direct any questions to Lauren Neeley at 505-845-8332.
