International Meshing Roundtable History

In 1992, Sandia National Laboratories started the Meshing Roundtable as a small meeting of like-minded companies and organizations striving to establish a common focus for research and development in the field of mesh and grid generation. Sandia National Laboratories continues to organize the International Meshing Roundtable, which has become recognized as an international focal point annually attended by researchers and developers from dozens of countries around the world.

The International Meshing Roundtable continues to focus on bringing together researchers and developers from academia, national labs and industry in a stimulating, open environment to share technical information related to mesh generation and general pre-processing techniques. The next roundtable will be held at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin, Texas.

Austin, Texas, USA

We are pleased to be hosting the International Meshing Roundtable in Austin, Texas, which is known for its unique culture, live music, art, and outdoor activities. The Austin nightlife includes nearly 200 venues where visitors can hear a variety of music including rock, jazz, blues, hip hop, punk, Latino, and of course, country. The Broken Spoke is known as "the last true Texas dance hall featuring great country acts and offering a Texas Two-Step lesson. The Continental Club has showcased blues, rock and folk music since 1957, earning it the title, "Granddaddy of Austin music venues." Antone's, Austin's "home of the blues," is where Stevie Ray Vaughan cut his proverbial teeth. Newer stages like those at The Mohawk and Club DeVille showcase local acts alongside big-name touring artists.

Known for its creativity, Austin is home to World Class museums and galleries including the Blanton Museum of Art and the Harry Ransom Center, both located at the University of Texas at Austin, and a short distance from the AT&T Conference Center. Numerous other museums and galleries are available to explore.

The surrounding Hill Country including some 14,000 square miles offers visitors the chance explore historic towns and more than two dozen area wineries.

Austin is home to Austin City Limits an American public television music program that is recorded live as well as the Austin City Limits Music Festival held at Zilker Park, an extraordinary Austin public green space. We are fortunate in the timing of the International Meshing Roundtable (IMR), which coincides with the second weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival allowing individuals who choose to arrive early for the conference an opportunity to also attend the festival prior to the start of the IMR.
