External Employee Assistance and Behavioral Health Benefits

External Employee Assistance and Behavioral Health Benefits

You and your family members can also find support through the behavioral health benefits available from your Sandia medical plan.

When You Might Need to Use External Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Benefits

In some cases, the external EAP benefit through your medical plan may make more sense for you to use, for example if:

  • You prefer to access EAP services off-site
  • You need longer-term counseling or support beyond the on-site behavioral health clinic (which will help make arrangements for the transition)
  • You have a family member who needs assistance

External EAP Benefit

The external EAP benefit includes up to eight individual, couples or family counseling sessions at no cost for covered employees and household members, along with legal, financial and work-life services.

Behavioral Health Benefit

Covered employees and their eligible dependents also have access to behavioral health counseling, psychiatric and other psychological services through their health plan’s behavioral health benefits. These services are offered in accordance with the plan’s deductible guidelines.
