Summary

Compute the volume fraction from the ratio of species porous density to species solid density

Description

Calculates volume fraction for species $i$ ( $V_{f,i}$ ) using

$V_{f,i} = \frac{Y_i \rho}{\rho_{s,i}}$

where $\rho$ is the DENSITY expression, $Y_i$ is the mass fraction, and $\rho_{s,i}$ is the SOLID_DENSITY for species $i$ .

The overall density material phase to use can be specified with the optional ‘Density_Phase_Name’ argument, which can be necessary for porous systems depending on how the mass fractions are defined. The provided Density_Phase_Name material phase is only applied to $\rho$ .
