Density for a multiphase material of two or three phases

Description

For a two-phase (solid and liquid) porous media problem:

\rho = (1-\phi)\rho_s + \phi \rho_l

For a three-phase (solid, liquid, gas) porous media problem:

\rho = (1-\phi)\rho_s + \phi S_l \rho_l + \phi (1-S_l) \rho_g

where \phi is the porosity, \rho_i the density in phase i, and S_l the liquid saturation.
