Jim Tomkins

Jim Tomkins is a Senior Scientist/Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. He spent the first 14 years of his career in simulation code development for nuclear reactor safety analysis, first at General Atomics, then at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and then at Sandia National Laboratories. For the last 17 years Jim has been involved in parallel computing. His early work in parallel computing was in parallel application code development. In 1995, Jim became the project leader for the ASCI Red Supercomputer at Sandia. Jim, together with Bill Camp, designed the architecture for the Red Storm computer system and Jim is the technical project leader for the Red Storm project. He has a bachelors degree in Physics from the University of Northern Iowa and a masters degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois.
