Steve Turpin

Steve Turpin is currently assigned to the office of the Deputy Associate Director for Simulation at Los Alamos National Laboratory and is responsible for ensuring alignment between the ASCI program and the requirements for stockpile assessment and response at Los Alamos. He holds a PhD in Physics from Rice University. Previously he has led the ASCI DisCom project at Los Alamos and held various staff and management positions in the Network Engineering Group, including a stint as Group Leader. In 1995, Steve was assigned to work with Gil Weigand at DOE HQ to help start up the ASCI program. In 1997, he moved to Defense Special Weapons Agency as their Director for Information Systems and Chief Information Officer. He led the transition of all Information Technology efforts of the constituent agencies in forming the new Defense Threat Reduction Agency and then acted as DTRA CIO until returning to Los Alamos in 1999.
