Stephen Wheat

Stephen Wheat joined Intel in 1995. Stephen is the Technology Investments Manager for Intel’s Storage Components Division in Chandler, AZ. He also manages an Advanced Development Engineering team, which drives future storage technologies into SCD’s product lines. Previously, Stephen managed the RAID Products Development organization in Chandler, the Workstation Products Group Software Development organization in DuPont, Washington, and the Embedded Systems Software group in the Supercomputing Systems Division in Beaverton, Oregon. Prior to joining Intel, Stephen worked for six years in Albuquerque, NM at Sandia National Laboratories. At Sandia, Stephen worked for Art Hale in the Massively Parallel Computing Research Laboratory, performing research in scalable systems software. Before the MPCRL, Stephen developed distributed software for the On-Site Treaty Inspection group at Sandia. Previous to Sandia, Stephen developed embedded systems software in New Jersey for a data flow computer designed for ship-board signal processing, and in Illinois for the 5ESS central telephone switch product. Stephen has a Ph.D., MS, and BS, all in Computer Science. Stephen is a commercial pilot and a certified flight instructor. Outside of Intel, you can find Stephen either flying or teaching someone how to fly.
