Max Bergmann, from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), will discuss the far-reaching consequences of Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The invasion marked a turning point in post-Soviet history–reshaping Russia’s role on the global stage. Bergmann is the director of the Europe, Russia, and Eurasia Program and the Stuart Center in Euro-Atlantic and Northern European Studies at CSIS.

Dr. Dmitry (Dima) Adamksy will discuss Russia’s approach to deterrence. Adamsky is an associate professor at the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at Israel’s IDC Herzliya. In addition to his academic career, Adamsky has carried out intelligence analysis and strategic policy planning for the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces.

Russian nuclear command and control and strategic stability is the subject of Dr. David Arceneaux‘s upcoming seminar. Arceneaux is the Rossetti Fellow for Future Conflict at the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Institute for Future Conflict and an assistant professor of political science at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. His research focuses on nuclear weapons strategy and operations in relation to international security.

For the last seminar in this CMC Series, Curtis Lee Fox will discuss Russian hybrid warfare as an extension of conventional conflict when diplomatic and informational elements of national power break down. A former Green Beret with the 10th Special Forces Group, Fox is the author of Hybrid Warfare: The Russian Approach to Strategic Competition (2023).
