Deputy Labs Director and Chief Operating Officer
As Deputy Laboratories Director and Chief Operating Officer for Sandia National Laboratories, David Gibson provides leadership, oversight, management direction, and execution to implement the Labs Director’s strategic vision for safe and secure operations at Sandia.
Previously, David served as the Senior Director of Environmental Safety Health and Quality at Argonne National Laboratory, where he was responsible for ensuring lab operations were conducted safely and in compliance with all environmental regulations.
David has broad and deep operational management experience and has had direct functional oversight of a variety of operational capabilities, including Facilities, Logistics, Environmental Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Safeguards & Security, Project Management and Quality Programs.
David started his career at Sandia as an intern in the Facilities Corporate Projects organization in 1998. David was quickly promoted through the staff ranks and served in two team lead roles before becoming the Manager of Nuclear Weapons Planning Integration. Over the years he served in two Senior Manager roles within Sandia’s Infrastructure Operations division, and in 2017 he became the Center Director of Sandia’s California Site Operations.
David holds an MBA from the University of New Mexico.
