As the Global Security Associate Labs Director for Sandia National Laboratories, Doug Bruder leads the defense nuclear nonproliferation portfolio, including global threat reduction, nuclear risk reduction, and nonproliferation and international security programs.

Previously, Doug served as a member of the U.S. Department of Defense Senior Executive Service for 13 years, most recently as Director of Research and Development for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), overseeing counter-WMD research. Other executive assignments included DTRA Associate Director for Combating WMD, Department Director for Counter-WMD Technologies, and Liaison and Special Assistant for the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs.
Doug has received the two highest awards for government executives: the Presidential Rank Award, Distinguished Executive (B. Obama, 2011); and the Presidential Rank Award, Meritorious Executive (G.W. Bush, 2007).
