Guidelines for Vendor Presentations October 19, 2004 afternoon session:
  • general technical basis for the technology,
  • general engineering design,
  • As removal efficacy over pH range 6.5 - 8.5, including effects of competing groundwater solutes such as sulfate, carbonate, silica, flouride, vanadate, naturally-occurring organic matter, total dissolved and suspended solids,
  • power requirements
  • waste water generation
  • volume and nature of residuals (pass TCLP or California WET)
  • pre- or post-treatment requirements
  • target population (point-of-use (POU), small distributed system, or other)
  • number, location, scale of previous pilots, and point-of-contacts at previous sites
  • estimated costs per gallon of treated water in full scale unit operation (POU unit or well, or other appropriate scale) including justification
  • anticipated required level of operator training
  • major advantages compared to curret "state-of-the-art"
The afternoon session was open to all conference attendees; vendors should avoid presenting any proprietary information.

Vendor Interviews by Technical Evaluation Teams:
On Wednesday, October 20th, the technical evaluation teams conducted private in-depth interviews of vendors. The focus was verification and additional discussion of information presented in the morning talks. The procedure for protecting intellectual property during the in-depth interviews by the Technical Evaluation Teams was reviewed at the start of the Forum.

Selection Criteria:
The evaluation of candidate technologies for the pilot testing was based on both topical and quality criteria. Completeness of the topical information described above as well the quality of supporting data will be considered in the evaluation. In addition, the ability of candidate companies to provide technical support and sufficient quantities of test material was a consideration. A more detailed description of the key areas of interest is given in the selection criteria.
