Sandia National Laboratories (SOAR)

The SOAR student version was created to provide students the opportunity to learn a science-based approach to developing optimal automated welding procedures. The SOAR 100 student licenses are restricted to use by students enrolled in a degree-granting institution. They are not for personal, professional, or commercial use. Proof of current enrollment is required. The SOAR 100 student version is the same as SOAR 3.0, except with the following limitations:

• The YAG, ISOEDGE, OSLW, and ISOSPOT2D applications are disabled.

• The following engineering alloys are not included in the material database: 17-4PH, HY130, HY80, Kovar, 6061Al, Ti6Al4V, Hastelloy C4, C22, and B2.

Student licensees shall pay Sandia National Laboratories a nonrefundable one-time License Fee of ninety-nine dollars ($99).

This is the Student License that you will need to print-out, complete (Exhibit 1), sign, and date. Leave the license number field blank, Sandia will add a number to the license after it is approved. In addition to signing the License, we ask SOAR users to complete the Sandia Participant Data Sheet (PDS). The PDS is a generic form for Sandia technology transfer interactions that contains licensee contact information. Not all questions need to be answered, no additional legal documents will be needed, but item 8 must be answered in full. Please note that although you must submit a License to receive a SOAR software CD, doing so does not guarantee approval of your License application and does not guarantee you will receive a SOAR software CD.

After completing the License and the PDS, to expedite the process, please email or fax a copy of the completed forms to Linda McNiel ( llmcnie@sandia.gov or fax number 505-844-8011). Then mail the original, signed documents to Ms. McNiel at Sandia National Laboratories, PO Box 5800 , M/S 0114, Albuquerque , NM 87185-0114 . Once the License is fully executed, you will be notified and the Sandia technical line organization will send you the SOAR CD.
