Standards and InitiativesSandia National Laboratories has been involved in the standards process for security of critical infrastructures since 1998 when it began representing the US to the International Electrotechnical Commission, Technical Committee 57 (IEC TC 57), WG 15. The TC57 has bought into a systems approach to security and DOE, through Sandia, has the lead on this item. Sandia has also managed to gain ground in getting the standards community to adopt a consequence based approach to security analysis as well as an early focus on the problems of key management. Sandia has participated in critical infrastructure security standards through a leadership role in both the IEC and IEEE through a number of committees, such as the substation committee of the IEEE and several IEEE coordinating committees. Recently, Sandia has helped review and influence the cryptographic efforts underway in AGA-12. |
