High-Consequence Automation

Intelligent Systems, Robotics, & Cybernetics specializes in the research, design, and development of automated systems for high-consequence tasks; tasks where a system failure can result in catastrophic consequences. These systems must be robust to a wide variety of failure modes and in the event of a failure, must fail-safely. In addition, they must degrade in a graceful manner to provide the maximum available capability under difficult conditions. We've been developing automated systems to handle materials used in conventional and nuclear weapons for the Department of Energy for over 20 years. Leveraging this experience, we were able to support the government with custom automation systems for the demilitarization of outdated munitions. These systems are not only cost-effective solutions but are reliable, safe, and enable personnel to be removed from the process, saving lives daily. Applying the same high-consequence systems design principals, we've developed our advanced Remotely Operated Weapons Systems (ROWS) technology, explosives automation capability, and guided bullet technology.
