NEDO and its connection to the APEC EGNRET

Ken Johnson is a Deputy Director at the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), Japan’s largest public research and development management organization. For the past 4-½ years, he has served in the International Projects Management Division, which undertakes projects and research with counterpart government organizations to introduce and disseminate advanced new energy, energy conservation and environmental technologies to developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of its International Cooperative Demonstration Projects Utilizing Photovoltaic Power Generation Systems, NEDO has conducted a number of PV projects related to grid-stabilization.
Ken also participates as a member of Japan's delegation to the APEC Expert Group on New and Renewable Technology (EGNRET). As part of this, he was involved in developing Japan's APEC project proposal, "Addressing Grid-interconnection Issues in Order to Maximize the Utilization of New and Renewable Energy Sources." This research project will be carried out from May 2009 to December 2010, and the proceedings of the Renewable Energy Grid Interconnection Systems workshop in Lanai will provide valuable input for the project.
Ken received his bachelor's degree in Economics from Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.
