Goodbye Carl!
On February 1, 2002, Carl Mora retired from Sandia National Laboratories. A lovely fête was held on January 30 to mark this milestone with cake and photos and hearty good wishes. A less-than-serious summary of Carl's career was available on a poster for guests' perusal at the retirement party, along with copies of his historical publications. There was an open discussion of some good memories.

Let them eat cake! Carl Mora smiling in the face of retirement.

Carl served as Sandia Corporate Historian from January of 1997 until
his retirement. He was on the editing team for Sandia National Laboratories:
A History of Exceptional Service in the National Interest, penned
by his immediate predecessor, Leland Johnson. He then turned his attention
to the history of Sandia's role in the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant;
Sandia and the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, 1974-1999 was published
in 1999 as SAND99-1482.

Carl's been making new friends in retirement. His reassuring news from a visit to Florida noted, "Retirement OK so farI miss filling out my time card (like, sure!)."
