Funding Criteria

  • Is the student pipeline material?
  • Is the research sufficiently pulsed-power oriented to be of value to the overall program?
  • Does the sponsorship help to build strong, long-term relationships among academics, faculty, and the technical line organization?
  • Is the research cross-cutting so that pulsed power activities across the labs could benefit?

Funding Proposal Should Include

  • Qualifications of the student and professor to conduct the research
  • Description of how project benefits the student and furthers his/her career plans
  • Proposed funding sources and durations
  • Student curriculum vita/resume
  • Contact information for student, professor, advisor, and Sandia staff

Funding Uses

  • Sponsor entry of undergraduate students into graduate school via fellowships such as National Physical Sciences Consortium
  • Professional development
  • Conferences and off-site presentations
  • Equipment
  • Telecommute travel and equipment
  • Short courses/lecture series
  • Others determined on a case-by-case basis
