Corrosion Sensors

Overview

Highly sensitive sensors have been fabricated and tested for monitoring the effects of corrosion. The onset and progression of corrosion is monitored through changes in sensor:

  1. resistance,
  2. capacitance,
  3. impedance, or
  4. resonant frequency

Devices with progressively stronger resistance to corrosion can be used in parallel to determine the corrosive environmental history of susceptible nearby components.
