Sandia has developed an instrument for monitoring the heating value of natural gas by combining a commercial injection valve with Sandia’s packable micro-fabricated gas chromatography column and the micro-hotplate based calorimetric sensor. The field-portable system allows for continuous calorimetric determination with a 1.5 minute cycle time using air as a carrier gas.
