Urban Biological Defensive Architecture Studies
(Bio Defense Studies)
Sandia is conducting in-depth analysis to evaluate the performance of wide area biodetection architectures and determine the value of early detection of bio attacks in mitigating attack impacts.
This study makes use of the extensive simulation capabilities that provide a virtual environment to simulate a bio attack from the point of view of a public health officer during an epidemic, allowing an analyst to:
- Make decisions over the course of a simulation based on information that would be available to a real public health officer.
- Conduct a simple epidemiological investigation through access to various public health reports such as morbidity and death reports.
- Implement a prophylaxis strategy by activating a simulated pharmaceutical stockpile and distribution centers and directing people to seek treatment.
