The Microsystem Materials Department is the lead organization for the Materials Science and Engineering Center for addressing materials issues critical to implementation of microsystem devices and for designing and developing materials and related technologies for new microsystem concepts. Expertise in the department includes tribology and mechanical behavior, surface effects, dormancy science, sensor materials and materials for microsystems packaging. The Staff in this department are highly engaged in joint research, development, and applications projects within the Center, throughout the Laboratories, and with the external technical community.
