NMR POSTDOCORAL FELLOW
A postdoctoral position will be available (summer, 2012) in the NMR facility at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in Albuquerque, NM. We are presently seeking highly motivated individuals to pursue research utilizing NMR spectroscopy in a national lab setting.
The postdoctoral position involves the use of solid state NMR techniques to look at a variety of materials related issues. Candidate can become involved in a series of collaborative projects ranging from: 1) development of novel MAS NMR techniques to structure and dynamics in materials, 2) PFG NMR studies of water transport in materials, 3) self assembly phenomena, 4) high speed spinning NMR characterization of nanomaterials and 5) NMR analysis of chemistry directed towards homeland security issues. Experience in either high resolution or solid state NMR spectroscopy as applied to biological or materials science is desired.
The laboratory is well equipped for both solution and solid state NMR investigations. Both positions require a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, material science or closely related field. Good communication skills are required. Salary is industry-based, highly competitive (> +75K depending on experience) and is for a 1 year position, with the possibility of extension. Interested parties should send a current CV to Dr. Todd M. Alam, tmalam@sandia.gov referencing. Because of security requirements both positions require the candidate be a US citizen.
Undergraduate Summer Student Intern – NMR Laboratory
An undergraduate summer intern position (SIP) in available within the NMR facility at Sandia National Labs (Albuquerque, NM). The position will primarily involve the preparation and NMR analysis of a wide range of different materials within the laboratory. This work includes general laboratory maintenance, sample preparation, and data analysis. In addition, the students will have an opportunity to become directly involved in a specific ongoing NMR-based experimental project.
Students presently pursuing a degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, mathematics or biochemistry are encouraged to apply. The ability to obtain a security clearance is also required.
Interested students should contact Dr. Todd M. Alam, tmalam@sandia.gov. Applications should be submitted early Janurary. |
